Hello, my name is Julia. I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Originally from a small town on the east coast, I moved to Calgary in 2012 and have been working in the field of mental health since. Outside of my work, my cup is filled by time with seeking out new adventures with my partner and our Bernese Mountain Dog (who is also a therapy pup!).
I have successfully worked with a broad range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, perfectionism, and relationship challenges. . To do this, I draw on therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I am also trained to treat trauma using Accelerated Resolution Therapy. While working with couples, I use both Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. Together, these approaches help couples better understand their communication patterns, emotional needs, and the cycles that keep them feeling stuck and disconnected.
My therapeutic approach has been described as compassionate and authentic. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood and accepted - change happens when we can be honest and direct about what's getting in the way. In our work together, we will find paths forward through identifying problematic patterns and moving toward healings ones
