Jennifer Rowe - Registered Provisional Psychologist

About Me

For over 25 years, I have had the privilege of helping children, youth, adults, and families find safety, connection, and hope during life’s most turbulent seasons. My passion is helping individuals thrive just as they are, while coaching parents through what is truly the hardest—and most rewarding—job on the planet. Outside of the therapy room, I make it a priority to slow down and protect my own well-being. You will usually find me filling my soul in nature—whether I’m kayaking on a calm lake with my daughters, hiking in the mountains with my Brittany Spaniel, or curling up with a good book on my patio.

Experience

My career has been dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate their worlds, with extensive experience spanning crisis, educational, and community settings:

  • Crisis & Advocacy Work: My career began in a crisis shelter, counselling children and mothers escaping domestic violence, which laid the foundation for my trauma-informed approach.
  • School System Expertise: I spent years working within two major school divisions, advocating for students with complex needs and guiding families toward wellness. I specialize in addressing school anxiety, school avoidance, and the family conflicts that surround them.
  • Neurodivergent Support: For a quarter-century, my focus has been helping youth, parents, and families thrive with neurodivergent minds (ADHD, Anxiety, and Autism), often when complicated by grief, trauma, or neglect.

Now, in private practice, I bring this lifelong dedication to my clients with an expanded clinical skillset, deep systemic knowledge, and a passion for helping shut-down teens and overwhelmed parents find their footing.

Lived Experience and Specializations

My professional expertise is backed by deep, personal lived experience, allowing me to bring unique empathy and insight into the therapeutic space:

  • Neurodiversity in the Home: As a parent who has successfully helped my own two neurodivergent children thrive into young adulthood, I intimately understand the daily rewards, systemic hurdles, and practical strategies required to support ADHD and anxious individuals.
  • First Responder Family Dynamics: Having been the spouse of a First Responder, I understand the distinct cultural stressors, secondary trauma, and unique resilience demanded of these families. I am passionate about helping families navigate these dynamics to build a secure, supportive home environment.

Philosophy

Healing doesn't happen in isolation; it happens through safe, secure connection. We are all fundamentally wired for relationship, yet life can be incredibly tricky to navigate on our own. Our early experiences shape how we view ourselves and how we interact with the world—sometimes in patterns that leave us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. My approach is deeply relational, attachment-based, and full of warmth and curiosity. Whether I am working with a shut-down teenager, an anxious adult, or a family navigating neurodiversity, my goal is to help you understand your nervous system, illuminate your natural resilience, and safely rewrite your story at your own pace.
